So what do we exactly build? Auth0 is an authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. Basically, we make companies’ login boxes safe, secure, and seamless for anyone logging in. Our mission is to secure the world’s identities so innovators can innovate. But it’s a big mission that requires a lot of teamwork.

Words, code, or people, whatever your skill, there’s a place for you here

Are you passionate about solving complex data problems and making a big impact? Looking to work with a highly motivated group of cloud engineers and with groundbreaking big data technologies? Then we are looking for you!

The Auth0 platform secures more than 100 million logins each day for customers all around the world - and we're growing fast! We are forming a new Data Platform team that will develop and operate tools and services for a modern, cloud-based data pipeline. As a Senior Manager for the team, you will get to work with engineers throughout the organization, influence the platform roadmap, and build foundational infrastructure that allows Auth0 to scale for years to come. As a leader, if you are passionate about nurturing high-performing teams, and are not intimidated by cross-organization coordination and collaboration, you will be a great fit for the role.

You will...

  • Build and lead an inclusive, diverse agile software development team focused on customer value delivery, and with deep experience in databases, data pipelines, distributed systems, and cloud-based microservices
  • Build a culture of discovery, learning, and experimentation on a distributed team through continuous coaching and mentoring
  • Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to design a highly-scalable, robust, extensible data platform using modern, proven tools and technologies such as golang, noSQL and RDBMS databases, Kafka, AWS Redshift, and Snowflake
  • Partner with product management and engineering leadership to define the platform roadmap that enables the next generation of identity products. Lead planning, execution, and delivery of data platform services.
  • Implement process improvements that drive operational excellence and create efficiency during a time of massive growth
  • Drive improvements on aspects such as test automation, code quality, and performance and cost efficiency
  • Maintain our high security, performance and availability SLA’s as we rapidly scale for customers with 100M+ monthly active users

You will be a great fit if you bring...

  • Familiarity with data engineering, including noSQL and RDBMS databases, cloud data warehouses, messaging and stream processing systems
  • 4+ years of technology leadership focused on SaaS, cloud, and distributed systems
  • At least 3+ years of experience managing geo-dispersed software engineering teams
  • Proven ability to earn respect, trust from people you work with, and to hire and mentor top technical talent at different experience levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively interface with business, executive and technical teams
  • Exceptional quality orientation and a demonstrated ability to build and lead a high-performance team
  • Technical leadership experience in design, implementation, and support of platform services that are highly reliable, extensible, and scalable. You can apply good judgment to the steepest of software engineering challenges
  • Experience with agile software development balanced with enterprise software customer needs
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, high-growth company and are comfortable with putting systems in place and adjusting and adapting when needed

Extra Points

  • Passion for working on web-scale distributed systems that are highly reliable, maintainable, scalable and secure
  • Experience leading teams of teams, and coaching other managers
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Have a strong distributed system background

We do not expect you to be an expert in all of the above, only that you can learn the less familiar fast.

Auth0 makes the internet safer by safeguarding billions of login transactions each month.

Our team is spread across more than 35 countries and we are proud to continually be recognized as a great place to work. Culture is critical to us, and we are transparent about our vision and principles. We practice N+1>N which applies to everything from our people to how we iterate our tech; we believe in one team, one score; and we give a shit about everything we do.

Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don’t apply unless they meet all the job criteria. We aren’t looking for someone who ticks every single box on a page; we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences. If you think you’d be a great fit, then please get in touch to tell us about yourself.
