The Team & Role

The Identity and Access Management (IAM) product team at Auth0 creates and delivers the cutting edge identity solutions used by all our customers. This includes authentication with Universal Login, frictionless self service flows, federations, risk detection and response, cryptographic services, session management, protocols, pipeline, directory services, authorization, and more. As a member of the team, you will interact with the best and brightest identity product managers in the industry as well as with Auth0 architects, engineers, the field team, product marketing, and customers to identify opportunities and prioritize work streams that will create the identity solutions of the future.

We are hiring a product manager that will lead an international, cross-functional team to deliver a next-generation Authorization-as-a-service capability for developers and own the strategy and roadmap for Auth0’s authorization capabilities.

This is a high-impact role that will be central to the success of a long-term strategic initiative. You will use every bit of your curiosity, tenacity, and intellect to shape and promote this and future features and capabilities. Your central purpose will be to ensure that your team is focused on solving real-life problems that developers in our customers’ organizations face; we work hard to make developers’ jobs easier so they can worry less about authorization and can focus on building their own product.

You’ll get the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most accomplished and passionate members of the identity industry while charting a path through unknown territory. This is not a walk in the park, this is a long and rewarding hike with many inspiring vistas along the way!

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with our customers – developers, software architects, and technical product managers – across a variety of industries, to ensure that we deliver a platform that can support the full spectrum of authorization use-cases

  • Be the expert in the room when it comes to what we’re building, why we’re doing it, and what it will take to get there

  • In partnership with the other members of the triad (design and engineering leads), write requirements and design interfaces for features; prioritize and deliver them through an iterative roadmap

  • Deliver incremental value to Auth0s customers by making smart, decisive tradeoffs using data-driven analyses and informed judgments

  • Motivate and drive consensus within and across geographically distributed teams to deliver value to customers

  • Synthesize competitive & customer insights to provide direction to those teams and celebrate their efforts along the way

  • Develop or nurture existing relationships with large enterprise customers to ensure that the features we are building are functional and pragmatic

  • Define, track, and communicate SLOs, SLAs, KPIs and success metrics

  • Be accountable for outcomes by setting clear objectives and key results on a quarterly basis, and reporting on them with clarity and brutal honesty

  • Generate interest and demand in the features and services they develop, in partnership with product marketers and developer advocates

  • Adapt new and existing standards into designs to continue the trend of pushing thought leadership and best practices in the industry

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years of application development

  • Are a subject matter expert on Authorization: you have a highly technical background with significant experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex authorization systems

  • Know every authorization pattern under the sun as well as when and why to choose them based on the problem at hand

  • Have significant experience delivering software-as-a-service and have a deep understanding of modern web application development including single-page apps

  • Experience working with OAuth2/OIDC

  • Are as comfortable whiteboarding with software architects as you are leading calls with customers to understand their needs

  • Have a demonstrable track record of cutting through complexity to deliver features and services that meet the needs of enterprise software architects and developers

  • Have strong opinions on how features should be exposed to those developers, from the user interface all the way down to the API specs, and the technical experience to back up those opinions

  • Think big and small; assemble a vision and the strategy/tactics to get there

  • Are independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results in a self-directed way. You like to get things done, and have experience working with distributed teams

  • Exhibit a learning mindset with experience conducting research to analyze market trends and customer needs, testing hypotheses, running experiments, and iterating on products and features

  • Exhibit excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills, with a focus on asynchronous communication - driving forward progress in spite of uncertainty/complexity

  • Strong understanding of Agile concepts including Scrum, with a working knowledge of software development lifecycle - emphasison process that produces high-quality and reliable software

  • Can travel domestically or internationally when required (15% or less)
