When marketing, sales, and customer experience teams want to deliver memorable experiences, they turn to Sendoso. The SaaS solution for sending personalized gifts, branded swag, eGifts, cameos, virtual experiences, and more is the special sauce for successful campaigns worldwide.

When asked about its key differentiator, CTO Qaseem Shaikh is quick to reply: “It is our technology. We provide new ways for our customers to engage at strategic points throughout the customer journey.” Sendoso is a fully integrated platform, meaning that it works with most of the tools and technology that already exist in its customers’ marketing stacks. All of Sendoso’s features are available to users from within the tools they already use.

But, as Sendoso moved into making enterprise deals, it struggled to fulfill the needs of its largest clients. Sendoso was torn between new feature development and fulfilling requests.

Sendoso’s Enterprise Clients Expect SSO and MFA

As Sendoso moved upmarket, the requests for features it didn’t have grew more fervent.

“We’ve had customers asking for Single Sign On (SSO) since the early days,” says Shaikh. But as they’ve gone upmarket, “we see more and more customers requiring this.”

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) presents a similar challenge. Shaikh states the problem clearly: “In 2020, MFA is expected of all software platforms.” According to Shaikh, it’s expected that companies be able to “validate that it is truly the owner of the account who is the one who's accessing the platform.”

But prior to Auth0, its authentication was a homebuilt solution using just username and password. The company predicted it would take a year of work before it could develop what its customers wanted.

“Security is a key consideration for enterprise customers, and we would not have been able to close many deals without having MFA and SSO available.”

Security and Simplicity at Scale With Auth0

Sendoso first turned to Auth0 in 2019 to implement MFA since enterprise prospects would only consider a secure platform. And by pairing MFA with SSO, more deals have closed. “Security is a key consideration for enterprise customers, and we would not have been able to close many deals without having MFA and SSO available,” says Shaikh.

As time has gone on, Sendoso’s use case with Auth0 has grown due to the “at-scale benefits” they receive. By adding social logins via Google and LinkedIn, authentication is simplified for their “hundreds of customers, with hundreds of thousands of end users.”

Sendoso has also increased user security with Brute Force Protection, a feature that blocks traffic from an IP address if there are an abnormal number of login errors.

“We've seen anomalous activity with people trying to log in multiple times from the same IP, and those have failed,” Shaikh says. “We're able to identify those threats through Auth0, which previously wouldn't be easy for us to see.”

Sendoso Saved the Equivalent of 10 Engineers’ Worth of Salary

Sendoso now has an authentication experience that customers love and that keeps customers secure — all without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on developers. “I would say it would take a team of about 10 engineers a year to build all of what we get with Auth0 today.”

Those savings are matched by excitement, both internally and externally. Externally, their customers love the experience. “We keep hearing the Guardian MFA app is great,” Shaikh reports. “The SSO experience with Auth0 is what many of our enterprise customers are really excited about.”

Internally, employees love the renewed focus. With the time saved on authentication, Sendoso launched its Address Confirmation feature, used to tailor the fulfillment experience and ensure accurate delivery.  “We are able to build features and scale our platform and focus on what we do best, which is enable our customers to do the right send, at the right time, with the right message.”

And on Sendoso’s most important topic, Shaikh has one thing to report: “We feel very secure.”

“I would say it would take a team of about 10 engineers a year to build all of what we get with Auth0 today.”
