2022 Public Sector Identity Index Report - Australia & New Zealand
Public sector teams in Australia and New Zealand have a bias towards building in house solutions despite its challenges.
Australia and New Zealand are one of the most digitally advanced governments with nearly 100% of Federal and State/Territory agencies developing external applications for citizens. However, this is paired with a strong preference for building in-house solutions as only 9% of governments leverage third party vendors for identity and access management compared to 56% opting to build it themselves. The inclination to DIY solutions drastically distracts from their ability to deliver new services quickly, drains internal resources, and results in lower levels of confidence around security and usability.
In this report, we highlight key trends observed at both the Federal and State/Territory levels in Australia and New Zealand, highlight areas of opportunity, and provide insight into how partnering with an identity solution can enable governments to reallocate resources to deliver additional value to its constituents.
