Skyscanner Wins KuppingerCole Customer Authentication Award with Auth0

Global travel marketplace uses Auth0 to eliminate passwords and block suspicious login activity for millions of customers

LONDON – 13 January 2021 Auth0, a product unit within Okta (NASDAQ: OKTA), today congratulates its customer, Skyscanner, the global travel marketplace, on receiving the 2021 European Identity and Cloud Award for Customer Authentication, presented by KuppingerCole Analysts AG. The winning customer identity project, designed to put travelers first with a simple and secure user experience, helped Skyscanner eliminate nearly all passwords for millions of customers, while blocking suspicious login activity that could signal an attack.

Using the Auth0 platform, Skyscanner’s development team introduced “passwordless” authentication, along with intelligent security features to detect and stop malicious attempts to access user accounts. Travelers can now sign up for a Skyscanner account simply and securely with just one click using either a one-time password (OTP) delivered via email, or Google One Tap, which prompts users to log in with their existing Google account.

Skyscanner was also among the first to use Auth0’s Attack Protection suite to defend against breached passwords, suspicious IP addresses, and bots and scripted attacks, without adding friction for legitimate customers. Travel and retail brands are targeted most by brute force attacks, followed by organizations in the industrial services, government, and technology sectors, according to Auth0’s 2021 State of Secure Identity Report.
